Position: Community Engagement Coordinator

Closing Date: Monday May 14, 2018 at 11:59pm
Start Date: May 28, 2018

Term: Six (6) months, with possibility of extension or renewal
Time Commitment: Part time, 20 hours per week
Wage: $17/hour

SUMMARY OF ROLE

The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for organizing events, volunteers, partnerships, and recruiting new co-op members to invest in Solar Bonds. The Community Engagement Coordinator will help manage social media platforms, the monthly newsletter, and general tasks around the office.

Candidates should be independent, comfortable presenting to crowds, able to work long hours on their feet speaking to potential investors, able to speak and write clearly, and eager to learn about renewable energy and finance.

The position involves working at the office in downtown Toronto and frequent travel within the GTA on evenings and weekends. A valid G license is absolutely required.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Events: finding events for SolarShare to participate in, organizing logistics for events, promoting events, managing the exhibitor booth and collateral, organizing volunteer schedules, recruiting volunteers and providing training.
  • Communications and marketing: collect content and images for media releases and social media, write/source content for social media, write blog, develop relationships with current and potential investors.
  • Perform administrative activities: send mail, manage spreadsheets, process paperwork, file applications to events, record minutes, and other related duties as required.
 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Required:

    • Strong sales and/or customer service background
    • Experience with grassroots marketing
    • Experience with event coordination
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Comfortable with public speaking
    • Highly organized, self-motivated and independent worker
    • Willingness to work a flexible schedule that sometimes involves early mornings, late evenings, and weekends
    • Passionate about the environment

    Assets

    • Knowledge of the renewable energy industry
    • Knowledge of finance or social finance
    • Skilled in photography, graphic design, graphic editing
    • Experience copywriting and editing copy
    • Experience in strategic marketing
    • Familiar with: MailChimp, Hootsuite, Facebook, Twitter, Mac computers, Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
