Earth Day: Why You Should Care About Our New Project

Apr 22, 2015

It's Our Turn to Lead #EarthDay

This Earth Day, citizens, educators, corporate leaders, and global organizations are taking action under the banner, "It’s our turn to lead." More than one billion people in 192 countries will participate in Earth Day activities and events, making it the largest civic observance in the world. We're doing our part by launching our newest project in Brampton.

The Glass Plant

It's the Glass Plant folks, not to be confused with the gas plants, and while citizens are leading the climate fight around the world, it marks the 27th SolarShare project.

The Glass Plant not only offers citizens the opportunity to join the renewable energy transition to fight climate change, but it is an important reminder of how small individual acts can make significant impacts. Thanks to our members and investors, we've been able to manage a huge expansion this year. The Glass Plant brings our total portfolio to 3.5 MW of generation capacity with a total value of $18 Million.

Inside the building featured above, a glass company manufactures energy efficient glass to be installed on modern buildings. Up on the roof, SolarShare has worked with its development partner EEDI to install 2,353 Canadian Solar Inc modules, for a total generating capacity of 600 kW DC. You can live monitor this project in real time to see how much clean energy we're generating.
